Hello 2nd grade families! Below you will find the assignments listed for the week. It is going to be important that we stay in communication with each other. We are depending on you to let us know how your child does with the assigned tasks. We are mainly concerned about the pacing, how much time is your child having to spend on the assignments, and how much help you are having to provide.
Language arts and math are considered "must do's" which means they are the main focus and must be completed each week. Science and social studies activities are included and are considered "may do's" meaning they aren't required to be completed each week. We want to include plenty of content material, but don't want to overwhelm anyone. Please take a picture of your child's completed language arts and math assignments, and email them to the home base/math teacher by Sunday evening each week. This will allow us to gauge how each child is doing with the assigned tasks.

Math:
This week you will continue to work on division. There are a number of components left to complete with the division lapbook. They each focus on a division table. Try to complete one activity each day. Then, you can finish up throughout the summer. I will continue to work with you on your memorization of the multiplication facts at our individual meetings. This week, you also have two worksheets to complete, Draw a Picture and Choose a Strategy. Continue working on your memorization of the multiplication facts, finish up the Camping Trip PBL project, and work on IXL activities.
Language Arts:
- Ms. Benson's Home Base
- Mrs. Roger's Home Base: This week for language arts, you will be working on spelling, grammar, writing and literature. Each day complete a spelling activity with your words. For writing, you should rewrite your mystery and make your book. This week, you should complete the two worksheets on Commas. We will discuss commas in our class meeting this week, so have these papers handy. The Missing Mummy: This week you will finish your novel. As you read each chapter, complete the questions and activities that accompany each. Freckle Juice: This week read chapter five and answer the questions. Complete the last few activities that accompany your novel. Superfudge: This week you will finish your novel. Complete the questions and activities that accompany each chapter. If you have time, complete the Accordion Book Project.
Science:
In your distance learning bag you have a new set of newspapers for your reading and experimenting pleasure! Each week you can read a newspaper and complete any or all of the activities. Have fun!
Social Studies:
Please read one historical map information and discuss it with a grown-up. If you have time, complete any activities you find exciting.
Choose one of the famous person(s) from America's History, that is listed below. These names should sound familiar to you. We've learned a little about each of them all throughout our study of the United State's history this year. Then do a little research, take a deeper look as to why your figure is an important part of our history. Some information you should find out is: when they lived and died, what did they look like, why were they important, where they lived throughout their life, what important things in history were going on in their lives, and fun facts about them.

- For the 3D maps. Instructions can be found on the historical information page, as well as on an introduction to the 3D maps page. This page can also be found here. Construction paper is provided with the maps.
- Often when the instructions call for tape, a glue stick will also work.
